CTC Staff Supports Relay For Life
Our staff held biweekly bake sales for over three months to raise funds for the Relay and entered two teams into the event. One team was called the Crusaders and the other was entered In Memory of John Rightmyer, an inspirational co-worker who passed recently. The Rightmyer team wore JOHN's name (see below) to highlight his life.
J - Journey
O - of
H - hope
N - Never give up
Together our staff collected over $3,500.00 adding a significant amount to the $150,000.00 plus raised by the community.
Our staff is already planning our fundraising drive for the 2011 Relay for Life and are going to kick it off with a Thanksgiving pot luck followed by a Christmas turkey raffle with more to come.
The Relay committee would like to thank everyone who contributed this year and look forward to another successful campaign.

Ryan Hebor Does A Great Job At the Ontario Skills Competition
To update, Ryan Hebor, our service apprentice finished in 10th place in the Ontario Skills Competition held a couple of weeks ago. To begin with, Ryan was one of only 3 first year apprentices who were invited into the competition. Every other technician was in their third year so for Ryan to finish 10th out of 60 says alot about what a competent, high achiever we have in our service department. Way to go Ryan!!

CTC Staff Highlight McCarthy Ellis
We are looking forward to our huge yard sale Saturday, May 29th which will be held inside and outside at our Grand Road location. Drop in to join the fun.
The garden center is a colourful oasis with flowers and shrubs of various colours and sizes in bloom.
The auto service center is pleased to announce our new Detailing Department where we can do your spring cleaning for you at a very reasonable rate (for your vehicle, that is). Right now if you book and oil change we are offering a 20 % discount on our already reasonable rates for cleaning your vehicle inside and out.
The staff here are looking forward to next week which is Employer Appreciation Week where we can celebrate the McCarthy-Ellis management successes. Since taking over Steve McCarthy has always been a huge supporter of local charity & childrens organizations. Whether through monitary donations, prizes for events or golf tournaments, breakfast club funding or team sponsorship (to name a few) , he has always been behind them 100%. We are very proud of the community involvement our organization has.

Stewart Davies Annual Tournament
In October 2000, Fran's son Stewart succumbed to cancer at the early age of fifteen, after a two year battle. Fran, along with her friends and family, decided to host a golf tournament in Stewart's memory that year to let the people know how much they appreciated everyone's support during their time of need. This year is the 10th anniversary of the Annual Stewart Davies Charity Golf Tournament and it is still going strong.
This years tournament will be held on Saturday June 26th at the Salt Creek Golf Links in Warkworth. It is a 4 person, best ball format for 18 holes with the price of $60 for non-members and $40 for members. There are meals and prized for all players and all the proceeds are going to the local schools breakfast program. If you are interested in playing just call Salt Creek at 705-924-1521 or visit www.saltcreekgolflinks.com
.
Steve McCarthy and the Trent Hills Canadian Tire family have always been behind Fran supporting her all the way. In the past the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families has matched all the proceeds earned at the tournament and this has been very much appreciated.

Ryan Hebor Heading to The Ontario Technological Skills Competition

We would like to congratulate our apprentice, Ryan Hebor, who has been chosen to represent Loyalist College, Northern Ontario and Trent Hills Canadian Tire in the 16th Annual Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo from May 17-19, 2010.
While attending school this winter, Ryan excelled in his class at Loyalist and was chosen to represent this area. The venue is an Olympic style skills competition which showcases students technical and leadership skills.
Students participate in practical challenges designed to test skills required in technology and trade occupations. Ryan will be competing in the automotive skills arena. The philosophy of the competition is to reward students for excellence, to directly involve industry in evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employer's needs.
Should Ryan do well in the competition he would advance to the Canadian Skills Competition where he would represent Team Ontario. Go Ryan!
